Greenwich Police say they initiated a traffic stop after observing a driver commit an infraction in the area of West Putnam Avenue and Byram Road on Thursday, July 25 around 9:30 a.m.

During officers’ interview with the driver, identified as Everette Worthington, 38, of Silver City, Mississippi, police say they detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of glass containers with a green, leafy substance and a loaded 32 mm revolver handgun for which Worthington did not have a permit, police say.

Worthington was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Weapons in a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a pistol without a permit
  • Failure to obey traffic control sign

Worthington was released on a $10,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, August 9.
